Sam Haskins Music
Music memories from London
Sam from his days in South Africa to the end always had a very high end audio system.
His music tastes were very varied from the classics through Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues.
I remember going to Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues concerts in the 70's they were LOUD!
I can also remember going to Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London with my parents and seeing Oscar Peterson perform in the early 1970's.
Having members of the Police and Moody Blue's at Sam's studio of the King's road in Chelsea and then our House/Studio in Wimbledon was just an accepted part of growing up Sam's son.
Just Around the corner from Sam's studio was the area of the King's road that hosted the Rocky Horror Show for many years. This was long before there was the picture show movie. People in the the US have a hard time believing that parents would take a pre-teen to see such a show. My parents did several times. My father was a master photographer famous for his nude pictures.
My father turned me on to the then Walter Carlos Switched on Bach. I turned him on to the new Switched on Bach CD's from now Wendy Carlos. It is still some of my favorite music and a special connection with my father.
Back in the day he made me many cassettes tapes of LP's. I think I wore out the Dark Side of the Moon cassette he made me.
